New Heart English Bible (NHEB)Today's passages
Leviticus 2
1"'When anyone offers a grain offering to the Lord, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil on it, and put frankincense on it.
2He shall bring it to Aaron's sons, the priests; and he shall take his handful of its fine flour, and of its oil, with all its frankincense; and the priest shall burn its memorial on the altar, an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to the Lord.
3That which is left of the meal offering shall be Aaron's and his sons'. It is a most holy thing of the offerings of the Lord made by fire.
4"'When you offer an offering of a meal offering baked in the oven, it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mixed with oil, or unleavened wafers anointed with oil.
5If your offering is a meal offering of the griddle, it shall be of unleavened fine flour, mixed with oil.
6You shall cut it in pieces, and pour oil on it. It is a meal offering.
7If your offering is a meal offering of the pan, it shall be made of fine flour with oil.
8You shall bring the meal offering that is made of these things to the Lord: and it shall be presented to the priest, and he shall bring it to the altar.
9The priest shall take from the meal offering its memorial, and shall burn it on the altar, an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to the Lord.
10That which is left of the meal offering shall be Aaron's and his sons'. It is a thing most holy of the offerings of the Lord made by fire.
11"'No meal offering, which you shall offer to the Lord, shall be made with yeast; for you shall burn no yeast, nor any honey, as an offering made by fire to the Lord.
12As an offering of firstfruits you shall offer them to the Lord: but they shall not ascend for a pleasant aroma on the altar.
13Every offering of your meal offering you shall season with salt; neither shall you allow the salt of the covenant of your God to be lacking from your meal offering. With all your offerings you shall offer salt.
14"'If you offer a meal offering of first fruits to the Lord, you shall offer for the meal offering of your first fruits grain in the ear parched with fire, bruised grain of the fresh ear.
15You shall put oil on it, and lay frankincense on it: it is a meal offering.
16The priest shall burn as its memorial, part of its bruised grain, and part of its oil, along with all its frankincense: it is an offering made by fire to the Lord.
Leviticus 3
1"'If his offering is a sacrifice of peace offerings; if he offers it from the herd, whether male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.
2He shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the Tent of Meeting: and Aaron's sons, the priests shall sprinkle the blood around on the altar.
3He shall offer of the sacrifice of peace offerings an offering made by fire to the Lord; the fat that covers the innards, and all the fat that is on the innards,
4and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the loins, and the cover on the liver, with the kidneys, he shall take away.
5Aaron's sons shall burn it on the altar on the burnt offering, which is on the wood that is on the fire: it is an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to the Lord.
6"'If his offering for a sacrifice of peace offerings to the Lord is from the flock; male or female, he shall offer it without blemish.
7If he offers a lamb for his offering, then he shall offer it before the Lord;
8and he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and kill it before the Tent of Meeting: and Aaron's sons shall sprinkle its blood around on the altar.
9He shall offer from the sacrifice of peace offerings an offering made by fire to the Lord; its fat, the entire tail fat, he shall take away close to the backbone; and the fat that covers the inwards, and all the fat that is on the inwards,
10and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the loins, and the cover on the liver, with the kidneys, he shall take away.
11The priest shall burn it on the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire to the Lord.
12"'If his offering is a goat, then he shall offer it before the Lord:
13and he shall lay his hand on its head, and kill it before the Tent of Meeting; and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle its blood around on the altar.
14He shall offer from it as his offering, an offering made by fire to the Lord; the fat that covers the innards, and all the fat that is on the innards,
15and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the loins, and the cover on the liver, with the kidneys, he shall take away.
16The priest shall burn them on the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire, for a pleasant aroma; all the fat is the Lord's.
17"'It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings, that you shall eat neither fat nor blood.'"
Leviticus 4
1The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
2"Speak to the children of Israel, saying, 'If anyone sins unintentionally, in any of the things which the Lord has commanded not to be done, and does any one of them:
3if the anointed priest sins so as to bring guilt on the people, then let him offer for his sin, which he has sinned, a young bull without blemish to the Lord for a sin offering.
4He shall bring the bull to the door of the Tent of Meeting before the Lord; and he shall lay his hand on the head of the bull and kill the bull before the Lord.
5The anointed priest shall take some of the blood of the bull, and bring it to the Tent of Meeting.
6The priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle some of the blood seven times before the Lord, before the veil of the sanctuary.
7The priest shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of sweet incense before the Lord, which is in the Tent of Meeting; and he shall pour out all of rest of the blood of the bull at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
8He shall take all the fat of the bull of the sin offering off of it; the fat that covers the innards, and all the fat that is on the innards,
9and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the loins, and the cover on the liver, with the kidneys, he shall take away,
10as it is taken off of the bull of the sacrifice of peace offerings. The priest shall burn them on the altar of burnt offering.
11The bull's skin, all its flesh, with its head, and with its legs, its innards, and its dung,
12even the whole bull shall he carry forth outside the camp to a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn it on wood with fire. Where the ashes are poured out it shall be burned.
13"'If the whole congregation of Israel sins, and the thing is hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done any of the things which the Lord has commanded not to be done, and are guilty;
14when the sin in which they have sinned is known, then the assembly shall offer a young bull for a sin offering, and bring it before the Tent of Meeting.
15The elders of the congregation shall lay their hands on the head of the bull before the Lord; and the bull shall be killed before the Lord.
16The anointed priest shall bring of the blood of the bull to the Tent of Meeting:
17and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before the Lord, before the veil.
18He shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar which is before the Lord, that is in the Tent of Meeting; and the rest of the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
19All its fat he shall take from it, and burn it on the altar.
20Thus shall he do with the bull; as he did with the bull of the sin offering, so shall he do with this; and the priest shall make atonement for them, and they shall be forgiven.
21He shall carry forth the bull outside the camp, and burn it as he burned the first bull. It is the sin offering for the assembly.
22"'When a ruler sins, and unwittingly does any one of all the things which the Lord his God has commanded not to be done, and is guilty;
23if his sin, in which he has sinned, is made known to him, he shall bring as his offering a goat, a male without blemish.
24He shall lay his hand on the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt offering before the Lord. It is a sin offering.
25The priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering. He shall pour out the rest of its blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering.
26All its fat he shall burn on the altar, like the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his sin, and he will be forgiven.
27"'If anyone of the common people sins unwittingly, in doing any of the things which the Lord has commanded not to be done, and is guilty;
28if his sin, which he has sinned, is made known to him, then he shall bring for his offering a goat, a female without blemish, for his sin which he has sinned.
29He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering, and kill the sin offering in the place of burnt offering.
30The priest shall take some of its blood with his finger, and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar.
31All its fat he shall take away, like the fat is taken away from off of the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn it on the altar for a pleasant aroma to the Lord; and the priest shall make atonement for him, and he will be forgiven.
32"'If he brings a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he shall bring a female without blemish.
33He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering, and kill it for a sin offering in the place where they kill the burnt offering.
34The priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and all the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar.
35All its fat he shall take away, like the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them on the altar, on the offerings of the Lord made by fire; and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his sin that he has sinned, and he will be forgiven.
Psalms 118
1Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.
2Let Israel now say that his loving kindness endures forever.
3Let the house of Aaron now say that his loving kindness endures forever.
4Now let those who fear the Lord say that his loving kindness endures forever.
5Out of my distress, I called on Yah. Yah answered me with freedom.
6The Lord is on my side. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
7The Lord is on my side among those who help me. Therefore I will look in triumph at those who hate me.
8It is better to take refuge in the Lord, than to put confidence in man.
9It is better to take refuge in the Lord, than to put confidence in princes.
10All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord, I cut them off.
11They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me. In the name of the Lord I indeed cut them off.
12They surrounded me like bees. They are quenched like the burning thorns. In the name of the Lord I cut them off.
13You pushed me back hard, to make me fall, but the Lord helped me.
14Yah is my strength and song. He has become my salvation.
15The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous. "The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
16The right hand of the Lord is exalted! The right hand of the Lord does valiantly!"
17I will not die, but live, and declare the works of Yah.
18Yah has punished me severely, but he has not given me over to death.
19Open to me the gates of righteousness. I will enter into them. I will give thanks to Yah.
20This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous will enter into it.
21I will give thanks to you, for you have answered me, and have become my salvation.
22The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
23This is the Lord's doing. It is marvelous in our eyes.
24This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!
25Save us now, we beg you, Lord! Lord, we beg you, send prosperity now.
26Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.
27The Lord is God, and he has given us light. Bind the sacrifice with cords, even to the horns of the altar.
28You are my God, and I will give thanks to you. You are my God, I will exalt you.
29Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.
Proverbs 25
1These also are proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
2It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
3As the heavens for height, and the earth for depth, so the hearts of kings are unsearchable.
4Take away the dross from the silver, and material comes out for the refiner;
5Take away the wicked from the king's presence, and his throne will be established in righteousness.
6Do not exalt yourself in the presence of the king, or claim a place among great men;
7for it is better that it be said to you, "Come up here," than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince, whom your eyes have seen.
8Do not be hasty in bringing charges to court. What will you do in the end when your neighbor shames you?
9Debate your case with your neighbor, and do not betray the confidence of another;
10lest one who hears it put you to shame, and your bad reputation never depart.
11A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
12As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover to an obedient ear.
13As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to those who send him; for he refreshes the soul of his masters.
14As clouds and wind without rain, so is he who boasts of gifts deceptively.
15By patience a ruler is persuaded. A soft tongue breaks the bone.
16Have you found honey? Eat as much as is sufficient for you, lest you eat too much, and vomit it.
17Let your foot be seldom in your neighbor's house, lest he be weary of you, and hate you.
18A man who gives false testimony against his neighbor is like a club, a sword, or a sharp arrow.
19Confidence in someone unfaithful in time of trouble is like a bad tooth, or a lame foot.
20As one who takes away a garment in cold weather, or vinegar on soda, so is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.
21If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat. If he is thirsty, give him water to drink:
22for you will heap coals of fire on his head, and the Lord will reward you.
23The north wind brings forth rain: so a backbiting tongue brings an angry face.
24It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than to share a house with a contentious woman.
25Like cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
26Like a muddied spring, and a polluted well, so is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.
27It is not good to eat much honey; nor is it honorable to seek one's own honor.
28Like a city that is broken down and without walls is a man whose spirit is without restraint.
