Numbers 18
1The Lord said to Aaron, "You and your sons and your fathers' house with you shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary; and you and your sons with you shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
2Your brothers also, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, bring near with you, that they may be joined to you, and minister to you: but you and your sons with you shall be before the tent of the testimony.
3They shall keep your commands, and the duty of all the Tent: only they shall not come near to the vessels of the sanctuary and to the altar, that they not die, neither they, nor you.
4They shall be joined to you, and keep the responsibility of the Tent of Meeting, for all the service of the Tent: and a stranger shall not come near to you.
5"You shall perform the duty of the sanctuary, and the duty of the altar; that there be no more wrath on the children of Israel.
6I, behold, I have taken your brothers the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are a gift, given to the Lord, to do the service of the Tent of Meeting.
7You and your sons with you shall keep your priesthood for everything of the altar, and for that within the veil; and you shall serve: I give you the priesthood as a service of gift: and the stranger who comes near shall be put to death."
8The Lord spoke to Aaron, "I, behold, I have given you the command of my wave offerings, even all the holy things of the children of Israel; to you have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to your sons, as a portion forever.
9This shall be yours of the most holy things from the fire: every offering of theirs, even every meal offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs, which they shall render to me, shall be most holy for you and for your sons.
10You shall eat of it like the most holy things. Every male shall eat of it. It shall be holy to you.
11"This is yours, too: the wave offering of their gift, even all the wave offerings of the children of Israel. I have given them to you, and to your sons and to your daughters with you, as a portion forever. Everyone who is clean in your house shall eat of it.
12"All the best of the oil, and all the best of the vintage, and of the grain, the first fruits of them which they give to the Lord, to you have I given them.
13The first-ripe fruits of all that is in their land, which they bring to the Lord, shall be yours; everyone who is clean in your house shall eat of it.
14"Everything devoted in Israel shall be yours.
15Everything that opens the womb, of all flesh which they offer to the Lord, both of man and animal shall be yours: nevertheless you shall surely redeem the firstborn of man, and you shall redeem the firstborn of unclean animals.
16You shall redeem those who are to be redeemed of them from a month old, according to your estimation, for five shekels of money, after the shekel of the sanctuary (the same is twenty gerahs).
17"But you shall not redeem the firstborn of a cow, or the firstborn of a sheep, or the firstborn of a goat. They are holy. You shall sprinkle their blood on the altar, and shall burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a pleasant aroma to the Lord.
18Their flesh shall be yours, as the wave offering breast and as the right thigh, it shall be yours.
19All the wave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer to the Lord, have I given you, and your sons and your daughters with you, as a portion forever: it is a covenant of salt forever before the Lord to you and to your seed with you."
20The Lord said to Aaron, "You shall have no inheritance in their land, neither shall you have any portion among them. I am your portion and your inheritance among the children of Israel.
21"To the children of Levi, behold, I have given all the tithe in Israel for an inheritance, in return for their service which they serve, even the service of the Tent of Meeting.
22Henceforth the children of Israel shall not come near the Tent of Meeting, lest they bear sin, and die.
23But the Levites shall do the service of the Tent of Meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations; and among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.
24For the tithe of the children of Israel, which they offer as a wave offering to the Lord, I have given to the Levites for an inheritance: therefore I have said to them, 'Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.'"
25The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
26"Moreover you shall speak to the Levites, and tell them, 'When you take of the children of Israel the tithe which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall offer up a wave offering of it for the Lord, a tithe of the tithe.
27Your wave offering shall be reckoned to you, as though it were the grain of the threshing floor, and as the fullness of the winepress.
28Thus you also shall offer a wave offering to the Lord of all your tithes, which you receive of the children of Israel; and of it you shall give the Lord's wave offering to Aaron the priest.
29Out of all your gifts you shall offer every wave offering of the Lord, of all its best, even the holy part of it out of it.'
30"Therefore you shall tell them, 'When you heave its best from it, then it shall be reckoned to the Levites as the increase of the threshing floor, and as the increase of the winepress.
31You shall eat it in every place, you and your households: for it is your reward in return for your service in the Tent of Meeting.
32You shall bear no sin by reason of it, when you have heaved from it its best: and you shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, that you not die.'"
Numbers 19
1The Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
2"This is the statute of the law which the Lord has commanded: Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring you a red heifer without spot, in which is no blemish, and which was never yoked.
3You shall give her to Eleazar the priest, and he shall bring her forth outside of the camp, and one shall kill her before his face:
4and Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle her blood toward the front of the Tent of Meeting seven times.
5One shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn:
6and the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer.
7Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the evening.
8He who burns her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the evening.
9"A man who is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up outside of the camp in a clean place; and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water for impurity: it is a sin offering.
10He who gathers the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening: and it shall be to the children of Israel, and to the stranger who lives as a foreigner among them, for a statute forever.
11"He who touches the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days:
12the same shall purify himself with water on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he doesn't purify himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.
13Whoever touches a dead person, the body of a man who has died, and doesn't purify himself, defiles the tabernacle of the Lord; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water for impurity was not sprinkled on him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet on him.
14"This is the law when a man dies in a tent: everyone who comes into the tent, and everyone who is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.
15Every open vessel, which has no covering bound on it, is unclean.
16"Whoever in the open field touches one who is slain with a sword, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.
17"For the unclean they shall take of the ashes of the burning of the sin offering; and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel:
18and a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it on the tent, and on all the vessels, and on the persons who were there, and on him who touched the bone, or the slain, or the dead, or the grave:
19and the clean person shall sprinkle on the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify him; and he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at evening.
20But the man who shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, because he has defiled the sanctuary of the Lord: the water for impurity has not been sprinkled on him; he is unclean.
21It shall be a perpetual statute to them: and he who sprinkles the water for impurity shall wash his clothes, and he who touches the water for impurity shall be unclean until evening.
22"Whatever the unclean person touches shall be unclean; and the soul that touches it shall be unclean until evening."
Psalms 68
1Let God arise! Let his enemies be scattered! Let them who hate him also flee before him.
2As smoke is driven away, so drive them away. As wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
3But let the righteous be glad. Let them rejoice before God. Yes, let them rejoice with gladness.
4Sing to God! Sing praises to his name! Extol him who rides on the clouds: to Yah, his name! Rejoice before him!
5A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.
6God sets the lonely in families. He brings out the prisoners with singing, but the rebellious dwell in a sun-scorched land.
7God, when you went forth before your people, when you marched through the wilderness... Selah.
8The earth trembled. The sky also poured down rain at the presence of the God of Sinai- at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
9You, God, sent a plentiful rain. You confirmed your inheritance, when it was weary.
10Your congregation lived therein. You, God, prepared your goodness for the poor.
11The Lord announced the word. The ones who proclaim it are a great company.
12"Kings of armies flee! They flee!" She who waits at home divides the spoil,
13while you sleep among the campfires, the wings of a dove sheathed with silver, her feathers with shining gold.
14When the Almighty scattered kings in her, it snowed on Zalmon.
15The mountains of Bashan are majestic mountains. The mountains of Bashan are rugged.
16Why do you look in envy, you rugged mountains, at the mountain where God chooses to reign? Yes, the Lord will dwell there forever.
17The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands. The Lord is among them, from Sinai, into the sanctuary.
18You have ascended on high. You have led away captives. You have received gifts among men, yes, among the rebellious also, that Yah, God, might dwell there.
19Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burdens, even the God who is our salvation. Selah.
20God is to us a God of deliverance. To the Lord, the Lord, belongs escape from death.
21But God will strike through the head of his enemies, the hairy scalp of such a one as still continues in his guiltiness.
22The Lord said, "I will bring you again from Bashan, I will bring you again from the depths of the sea;
23That you may crush them, dipping your foot in blood, that the tongues of your dogs may have their portion from your enemies."
24They have seen your processions, God, even the processions of my God, my King, into the sanctuary.
25The singers went before, the minstrels followed after, in the midst of the ladies playing with tambourines,
26"Bless God in the congregations, even the Lord in the assembly of Israel!"
27There is little Benjamin, their ruler, the princes of Judah, their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.
28Your God has commanded your strength. Strengthen, God, that which you have done for us.
29Because of your temple at Jerusalem, kings shall bring presents to you.
30Rebuke the wild animal of the reeds, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the peoples. Being humbled, may it bring bars of silver. Scatter the nations that delight in war.
31Princes shall come out of Egypt. Ethiopia shall hurry to stretch out her hands to God.
32Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth! Sing praises to the Lord! Selah.
33To him who rides on the heaven of heavens, which are of old; behold, he utters his voice, a mighty voice.
34Ascribe strength to God! His excellency is over Israel, his strength is in the skies.
35You are awesome, God, in your sanctuaries. The God of Israel gives strength and power to his people. Praise be to God!
Proverbs 6
1My son, if you have become collateral for your neighbor, if you have struck your hands in pledge for a stranger;
2You are trapped by the words of your mouth. You are ensnared with the words of your mouth.
3Do this now, my son, and deliver yourself, seeing you have come into the hand of your neighbor. Go, humble yourself. Press your plea with your neighbor.
4Give no sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids.
5Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.
6Go to the ant, you sluggard. Consider her ways, and be wise;
7which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,
8provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.
9How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep?
10A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11so your poverty will come as a robber, and your scarcity as an armed man.
12A worthless person, a man of iniquity, is he who walks with a perverse mouth;
13who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, who motions with his fingers;
14in whose heart is perverseness, who devises evil continually, who always sows discord.
15Therefore his calamity will come suddenly. He will be broken suddenly, and that without remedy.
16There are six things which the Lord hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him:
17haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood;
18a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief,
19a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.
20My son, keep your father's commandment, and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
21Bind them continually on your heart. Tie them around your neck.
22When you walk, it will lead you. When you sleep, it will watch over you. When you awake, it will talk with you.
23For the commandment is a lamp, and the Law is light. Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,
24to keep you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the wayward wife's tongue.
25Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.
26For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life.
27Can a man scoop fire into his lap, and his clothes not be burned?
28Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
29So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished.
30Men do not despise a thief, if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry:
31but if he is found, he shall restore seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house.
32He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.
33He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away.
34For jealousy arouses the fury of the husband. He won't spare in the day of vengeance.
35He won't regard any ransom, neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts.
