Revelation 12
1A great sign was seen in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
2She was with child. She screamed out in pain, laboring to give birth.
3Another sign was seen in heaven. Behold, a great fiery red serpent, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven crowns.
4His tail drew one third of the stars of the sky, and threw them to the earth. The serpent stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her child.
5She gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron. Her child was caught up to God, and to his throne.
6The woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that there they may nourish her one thousand two hundred sixty days.
7There was war in the sky. Michael and his angels made war on the serpent. The serpent and his angels made war.
8They did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any more in heaven.
9The great serpent was thrown down, the old serpent, he who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
10I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now is come the salvation, the power, and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ; for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.
11They overcame him because of the Lamb's blood, and because of the word of their testimony. They did not love their life, even to death.
12Therefore rejoice, heavens, and you who dwell in them. Woe to the land and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has but a short time."
13When the serpent saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child.
14Two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, so that she might be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
15The serpent spewed water out of his mouth after the woman like a river, that he might cause her to be carried away by the stream.
16The earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the river which the serpent spewed out of his mouth.
17The serpent grew angry with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her seed, who keep God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.
18He stood on the sand of the sea.
Psalms 33
1Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous! Praise is fitting for the upright.
2Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre. Sing praises to him with the harp of ten strings.
3Sing to him a new song. Play skillfully with a shout of joy!
4For the word of the Lord is right. All his work is done in faithfulness.
5He loves righteousness and justice. The earth is full of the loving kindness of the Lord.
6By the Lord's word, the heavens were made; all their army by the breath of his mouth.
7He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap. He lays up the deeps in storehouses.
8Let all the earth fear the Lord. Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
9For he spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood firm.
10The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing. He makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.
11The counsel of the Lord stands fast forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
12Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance.
13The Lord looks from heaven. He sees all the sons of men.
14From the place of his habitation he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth,
15he who fashions all of their hearts; and he considers all of their works.
16There is no king saved by the multitude of an army. A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
17A horse is a vain thing for safety, neither does he deliver any by his great power.
18Behold, the Lord's eye is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his loving kindness;
19to deliver their soul from death, to keep them alive in famine.
20Our soul has waited for the Lord. He is our help and our shield.
21For our heart rejoices in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
22Let your loving kindness be on us, Lord, since we have hoped in you.
Proverbs 13
1A wise son listens to his father's instruction, but a scoffer doesn't listen to rebuke.
2By the fruit of his lips, a man enjoys good things; but the unfaithful crave violence.
3He who guards his mouth guards his soul. One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
4The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied.
5A righteous man hates lies, but a wicked man brings shame and disgrace.
6Righteousness guards the way of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
7There are some who pretend to be rich, yet have nothing. There are some who pretend to be poor, yet have great wealth.
8The ransom of a man's life is his riches, but the poor hear no threats.
9The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.
10Pride only breeds quarrels, but with ones who take advice is wisdom.
11Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow.
12Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
13Whoever despises instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command will be rewarded.
14The teaching of the wise is a spring of life, to turn from the snares of death.
15Good understanding wins favor; but the way of the unfaithful is hard.
16Every prudent man acts from knowledge, but a fool exposes folly.
17A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy gains healing.
18Poverty and shame come to him who refuses discipline, but he who heeds correction shall be honored.
19Longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil.
20One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.
21Misfortune pursues sinners, but prosperity rewards the righteous.
22A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored for the righteous.
23An abundance of food is in poor people's fields, but injustice sweeps it away.
24One who spares the rod hates his son, but one who loves him is careful to discipline him.
25The righteous one eats to the satisfying of his soul, but the belly of the wicked goes hungry.
