Titus 2
1But say the things which fit sound doctrine,
2that older men should be temperate, sensible, sober minded, sound in faith, in love, and in patience:
3and that older women likewise be reverent in behavior, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good;
4that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
5to be sober minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that God's word may not be blasphemed.
6Likewise, exhort the younger men to be sober minded;
7in all things showing yourself an example of good works. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness,
8and a sound message that cannot be condemned; that he who opposes you may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us.
9Exhort servants to be in subjection to their own masters, and to be well-pleasing in all things; not contradicting;
10not stealing, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God, our Savior, in all things.
11For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,
12instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world;
13looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ;
14who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.
15Say these things and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no man despise you.
Psalms 135
1Praise Yah! Praise the name of the Lord! Praise him, you servants of the Lord,
2you who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of our God's house.
3Praise Yah, for the Lord is good. Sing praises to his name, for that is pleasant.
4For Yah has chosen Jacob for himself; Israel for his own possession.
5For I know that the Lord is great, that our Lord is above all gods.
6Whatever the Lord pleased, that he has done, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps;
7who causes the clouds to rise from the ends of the earth; who makes lightnings with the rain; who brings forth the wind out of his treasuries;
8Who struck the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and animal;
9Who sent signs and wonders into the midst of you, Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his servants;
10who struck many nations, and killed mighty kings,
11Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan,
12and gave their land for a heritage, a heritage to Israel, his people.
13Your name, Lord, endures forever; your renown, Lord, throughout all generations.
14For the Lord will judge his people, and have compassion on his servants.
15The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
16They have mouths, but they can't speak. They have eyes, but they can't see.
17They have ears, but they can't hear; neither is there any breath in their mouths.
18Those who make them will be like them; yes, everyone who trusts in them.
19House of Israel, praise the Lord! House of Aaron, praise the Lord!
20House of Levi, praise the Lord! You who fear the Lord, praise the Lord!
21Blessed be the Lord from Zion, Who dwells at Jerusalem. Praise Yah!
Proverbs 27
1Do not boast about tomorrow; for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
2Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.
3A stone is heavy, and sand is a burden; but a fool's provocation is heavier than both.
4Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming; but who is able to stand before jealousy?
5Better is open rebuke than hidden love.
6Faithful are the wounds of a friend; although the kisses of an enemy are profuse.
7A full soul loathes a honeycomb; but to a hungry soul, every bitter thing is sweet.
8As a bird that wanders from her nest, so is a man who wanders from his home.
9Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart; so does earnest counsel from a man's friend.
10Do not forsake your friend and your father's friend. Do not go to your brother's house in the day of your disaster: better is a neighbor who is near than a distant brother.
11Be wise, my son, and bring joy to my heart, then I can answer my tormentor.
12A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.
13Take his garment when he puts up collateral for a stranger. Hold it for a wayward woman!
14He who blesses his neighbor with a loud voice early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse by him.
15A continual dropping on a rainy day and a contentious wife are alike:
16restraining her is like restraining the wind, or like grasping oil in his right hand.
17Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend's countenance.
18Whoever tends the fig tree shall eat its fruit. He who looks after his master shall be honored.
19As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man.
20Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied; and a man's eyes are never satisfied.
21The crucible is for silver, and the furnace for gold; but man is refined by his praise.
22Though you grind a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with grain, yet his foolishness will not be removed from him.
23Know well the state of your flocks, and pay attention to your herds:
24for riches are not forever, nor does even the crown endure to all generations.
25The hay is removed, and the new growth appears, the grasses of the hills are gathered in.
26The lambs are for your clothing, and the goats are the price of a field.
27There will be plenty of goats' milk for your food, for your family's food, and for the nourishment of your servant girls.
